Kathy graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College in 1978 with a B.S. degree in Music Education. She began working in church music while in college and had the opportunity to help in establishing Parkminster Music School in Chili where she taught piano and voice lessons. She has directed adult and youth handbell choirs at Parkminster Presbyterian Church, All Saints Episcopal Church, Penfield United Methodist Church and most recently at RCRC where she also directed the Adult Choir from 2002-2015. From 2013 to the present time, she has served as Worship Coordinator, a role that supports the Senior Pastor and coordinates and supports the ministries of the church in the areas of worship and music.

RCRC vision statement states, “As a growing, multi-generational community of Christians, we are called to faithful obedience and holy living; we offer our hearts and lives to do God's work in our world. We dedicate ourselves to worship God joyfully, proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, and transform lives and culture by the power of the Holy Spirit. We want to become like Jesus Christ in all we think, say, and do.”

Harry Ironside made the point “Real worship is that of the heart.” As worship coordinator, Kathy’s goal each week is that RCRC’s worship would have Jesus Christ as its focus and that the church’s corporate worship would grow out of its individual member’s personal heart relationship with Jesus Christ. “In worship, God speaks and God listens. By the power of the Holy Spirit, God challenges us, comforts us, and awakens us. And by the prompting of the Holy Spirit we listen and then respond with praise, confession, petition, testimony, and dedication.

I began regularly attending RCRC in 1996, when my husband, Danny, and I moved back to the Rochester area. While traditional services with liturgy were new to me, I soon recognized and appreciated the focus on the sovereignty of God and on being agents of change within our culture. Danny and I, along with our five children, are grateful to be part of this church family and encourage you to come visit. Jiae Kwak has been a leading performer since she was nine years old. She has had multiple special awards and achievements from a very young age. She was accepted into the bachelor’s program at the Korean National University of Arts, regarded as the top music school in Korea. As a student there, she performed at the highest level in the organ courses and received a full scholarship.

After graduation, she was elected as a representative for her college for Torch missionary center’s new graduate concert, which is regarded as the best debut stage for new musicians in Korea. In addition, she performed with the Korean Symphony Orchestra for the G-20 Summit celebration concert in 2010.

Jiae has had many global performance experiences, including notable venues spanning four continents. She has studied with David Titterington (UK), Jon Laukvik(DE), Martin Schmeding(DE), Martin Sander(DE), Wolfgang Zerer(DE), and Arvid Gast(DE). In 2010, she won first prize in the Interbulgo competition in South Korea. In 2015, Jiae participated in an international organ competition for Silberman(DE) and Saint-Maurice (SUI). In 2018, she took masterclasses with Louis Robilliard(FR), and François Espinasse’s(FR). In 2022, she was selected to participate in the Sursa American Organ Competition.

Jiae is currently attending the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester studying with Nathan Laube, who is one of the most famous organists worldwide. She was the first graduate student to be awarded the new Salisbury Scholarship by the American Guild of Organists.
